Job Summary

The Electronic Service Technician is in charge of the initial installation, programming, and subsequent maintenance of any system contracted to DarkNet Communications.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain customer relationships based on dependability and honesty. Ensure that long term customer relationships are created by providing value added services
  • Maintain relationships with customers by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities for service improvements
  • Resolve product and service problems by researching the situation; identifying alternate means of filling customer needs; recommending solutions
  • Actively promote the value of full service agreements with DarkNet Communications
  • Resolve product and service problems by researching the situation; identifying alternate
  • Refers customer concerns about billing practices and charges for services rendered to appropriate department for investigation and resolution
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, seminars, conferences, etc., as assigned by supervisor
  • Responsible for obtaining authorization in advance for all purchases of parts, materials, equipment, tools and supplies above those outlined in the approved materials list or job cost records
  • Perform a variety of tests to determine whether product functions as specified; determine cause of product failure; analyze test results
  • Responsible for effecting smooth communications and rapport between the customer, other personnel on-site, and company personnel
  • Responsible for keeping the Project Manager aware of the status of the Job's Performance needs on a regular basis and in a timely manner
  • Review job files. Review all pertinent data including job layout drawings, specifications and other technical data, as required for a more efficient inspection
  • Review material and equipment lists for installation and service repairs. Document and report any material discrepancies as required
  • Responsible and accountable for all parts, materials, equipment, tools and supplies that are released to technician's custody. Maintain accurate inventory records for all items
  • Responsible for completing all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule, personally responsible for the quality of work performed
  • Responsible for accurately completing all required documentation (i.e., timesheets, service acknowledgements, quotes, inventory transfer sheets, inspection certificates, etc.) Forward or bring these documents to the office as soon as possible
  • Responsible for obtaining authorization in advance for overtime
  • Complete all in-house assembly/test/checkout tasks, as required
  • Consistently solves technical challenges as they arise. Functions as a “trouble-shooter” for problem areas. Resolves potential problems before they can have a negative impact on the customer and the company
  • Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties
  • Education and/or Experience:
    The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma; an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology is preferred. Candidate must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to clearly identify the relationship of customer needs with respect to process capability. Requires the ability to understand the technical applications needed to operate system equipment.

    Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Pulling of electronic cable
  • Responsible for the termination and installation of hardware
  • Responsible for the operation and testing of installed equipment
  • Meet all installation deadlines
  • Responsible for tracking all deficiencies at check out.
  • Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program
  • Operation of Computer Software and an understanding of Computers
  • Responsible for accurate as-built documentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic devices and cabling
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC circuits
  • Working knowledge of IP based networks
  • Experience with PLCs and telecommunications equipment a plus

    Other Qualifications:

  • Experience, including a track record in the service sector.Independence and high motivation.
  • Basic product and application knowledge within the industry.
  • Team leadership skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Entry-level knowledge of low voltage systems.
  • Work Environment:
    Work primarily will be in a climate controlled type atmosphere. Occasionally, work will be done either outside or in non-heated or non-air conditioned buildings, presenting possible extremes of hot and cold.
